Term 2 Week 8 2025

From the Principal

Dear families and friends of St Anthony’s,
At St Anthony’s, we are blessed to have a talented and dedicated staff who are committed to our students and community. All our staff spend countless hours considering our students and school community, whether it be planning, preparing and delivering quality lessons, maintaining our outside environment, answering phone calls, providing first aid, having a laugh with each other, listening, caring and making student-centred decisions targeted at what they need to flourish in all aspects of their lives. As members of our school community, we are fortunate to spend so much time with your children mentoring, supporting and guiding them to be and become their best selves. The students at St Anthony’s are provided with many ‘extra’ opportunities in addition to high-quality everyday teaching and learning experiences. Embracing, appreciating and expressing gratitude for these opportunities is an important part of their educational experience and life journey, forming and developing them to be the best individuals they can be as well as quality members of the community now and in the future. At St Anthony’s, I see examples of ‘being your best self’ modelled by our staff, parents and students and played out in actions and words by our community members on a daily basis. Below are some of the additional opportunities our students and community members have had the opportunity to be a part of in the past and coming weeks, which I hope you have or will enjoy.
Cross Country
Last week, our students participated in the NIJSSA cross country. It was a credit to see the students who were selected and able to participate representing our school so well. Representing our school by trying their best and by actions such as encouraging others and supporting those who may have fallen during the course of the race. Thank you as well to the staff who assisted in planning the event, and the staff and community members who stayed and assisted in packing up. Your assistance was appreciated and noticed. Congratulations also to those students who participated for the first time in the All Schools Cross Country at Symons Plains. All students should be proud of their achievements.
Band Soiree
Last Thursday, our amazing students displayed what wonderful progress they had made since the beginning of the year in learning their selected instrument by performing in their first Band Soirée for 2025. We had a fantastic turnout in terms of the audience. How fortunate are our students to be able to have this wonderful opportunity. Thank you to Ms Mowat and her team of tutors from St Patrick's College. Not only do our students learn how to play an instrument, but they also learn life skills such as confidence to perform in front of people and resilience to push on when things go wrong, which they sometimes do in life. I enjoyed the performance and how well the students approached it and represented themselves and the St Anthony’s community. Thank you also to the staff who assisted in setting up the event and the parents and students who helped pack up.
Student Showcase
On Thursday, the 26th of June, we will be having our annual Showcase. This is another opportunity St Anthony’s offers in order to share and celebrate your child's learning journey. If you have not returned your form and would like to book a time, please contact the office. Booking confirmation times will be sent home Monday, 23rd June with your child. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Sincerely,
Adele Murphy
Principal
All Schools Cross Country
On Tuesday, a few students from St Anthony’s were selected to go to the All Schools Cross Country at Symmons Plains. It was a great experience and everyone showed good sportsmanship. Although it was muddy and freezing, we all enjoyed it! We were super proud of Jerry coming 7th, as well as Patrick and Henley placing in the top 20 for their age group.

St Anthony’s Feast Day Celebrations
On Thursday 12th June, our school community came together to celebrate St Anthony’s Feast Day. Students in Grades 1–6 began the day with a beautiful Mass at the Church led by Father Martin, while Kinder and Prep students participated in a special prayer service at school with Ms Deane. During the middle block, students enjoyed fun, house-based activities led by our Year 5/6 leaders, who showed fantastic leadership and care. Buddy classes shared lunch and a special treat (thank you to our generous families!), followed by a relaxing afternoon movie. It was a joyful day full of faith, fun and community spirit!

Daily Timetable - School Starts at 8.45am
The school day starts promptly at 8:45 am. If your child arrives after this time, they will be recorded as absent. In that case, please accompany them to the office so Nikki or Brigette can update their attendance to ‘present.’ We truly appreciate your effort to have your child arrive on time—every minute really does matter!

COMPASS
Compass is our main student management system and used for all forms of communication with parents. Reports are also accessible via this platform. We provide parents with passwords and details of downloading the App after enrolment. If you are having trouble with accessing compass please contact the office.
