Term 1 Week 4 2025
Prayer

From The Principal
What a great start to Term 1 we have had at St Anthony's. It has been a busy start to the year with lots of wonderful experiences for the students such as the Grade 5/6 camp at Camp Banksia, swimming carnival, Beginning of Year Mass and Getting to Know You Meetings. Despite the business, the feeling when you walk around the school and into classrooms is one of calmness with high levels of student engagement. On a Monday morning, at Gathering, the students are to be commended in the way they enter and leave the Assisi centre respectfully, reverently participating in prayer and listening respectfully to any announcements for the week. Starting the week in such a positive way is important as it sets the expectations and tone for the remainder of the week.
Swimming Carnival
Our swimming carnival on Tuesday was a great success and I would like to thank Mr Nick Stacey and other staff for all the hard work and necessary planning that goes on behind the scenes to ensure it runs smoothly. Thank you to the students as well who participated with enthusiasm and encouraged each other to try their best. Thank you also to everyone who volunteered as without your assistance we wouldn’t be able to run these events. Being involved helps keep our community strong. Well done Francis House!
School Counsellor
We are pleased to announce that we have a new counsellor at our school as communicated on COMPASS. Miss Jasmine Brown will be joining the St Anthony’s team to assist in supporting our students’ wellbeing. We welcome Jasmine to our school community. Jasmine will be working on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please see below an ‘All About Me’ attachment from Jasmine.
Awards Assembly (Prep - Grade 6 students)
Awards assemblies are conducted at St Anthony's twice a term. In Term 1 they will be held from 2:20 - 2:50pm on the following dates:
- Friday 28th February
- Friday 28th March
Your child’s teacher will contact you if they are receiving an award.
School Effectiveness Survey
Insight SRC is conducting a survey on behalf of St Anthony's Catholic School and Catholic Education Tasmania. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of their children’s experience of school. The results will benefit everyone within the school by providing valuable information about the ways in which the school can use staff, students and parent input to plan programs and activities to improve your child’s experience at school.
Whilst your participation is voluntary, it is important to remember that the success of this important project is dependent on the involvement of all parents. Further details will be provided in the near future via the newsletter and COMPASS.
Grade 5/6 Camp
In Week 2 I was lucky enough to attend the Grade 5/6 camp on Thursday and Friday. It was a great camp with lots of new experiences for the students and a chance to bond as a cohort. We are blessed in our community to have such dedicated staff tirelessly working behind the scenes prior to camp to organise it, as well as their willingness to attend in order to provide students with lifelong memories. It was a pleasure to get to know the students and they should be congratulated on their respectful dispositions and behavioural choices which added to the camp's success.
Sincerely,
Adele Murphy
