Term 3 Week 8 2024
From The Principal
Dear families and friends of St Anthony’s,
Ask R U OK? Any Day because life happens every day.
A lot can happen in a year, a month, a week. Whether it’s your friend, family member, colleague, partner, or teammate, the people you care about go through life’s ups and downs every day.
By having regular, meaningful conversations, you build trust and normalise talking about what’s really going on, so when the people in your world find themselves struggling, they know you’re someone they can talk to.
A CONVERSATION CAN CHANGE A LIFE
You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener. Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:
- Ask R U OK?
- Listen
- Encourage action
- Check in
Athletics Carnival Volunteers
The St Anthony’s Athletics Carnival will be held on Wednesday 16th October and will take place at Windsor Park. St Anthony’s Athletics Carnival relies on the assistance, and appreciates the help, of volunteers to run events. If you are available to help out on the day please complete the questions on the Compass event, contact Nick Stacey (nick.stacey@catholic.tas.edu.au) or the school office. More information will be provided closer to the day.
Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee
Many of our Grade 3-6 students have recently participated in the Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee. Congratulations to Evie Clark in Year 3/4R who made it to the National Final Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee.
Pray for..
We continue to pray for Mr Mannion who has had a recent health scare. We pray for a speedy recovery and look forward to his return in Term 4. Thank you Emma Marshall for stepping in as Acting Deputy Principal in Paul’s absence.
Sincerely,
Jason Perry - Principal
Futsal - Champion Of Champions
On Tuesday our team consisting of Jerry, Tom W, Louis, Noah M, Ollie F and Ollie G headed to Hobart to compete in the State futsal Championships coming an impressive 2nd. Well done boys!
Indigenous Literacy Day 2024
This year, St Anthony’s celebrated the theme ‘Be A Proud Voice for Country’. Students learnt about the deep and diverse ways children, Elders and families connect with Country; and the significance of Country in Aboriginal Communities. We listened to Dreaming stories from the riverbank in Cunnamulla; joined teenagers as they explored culture through poetry and art in Vincentia; and heard incredible stories and songs from children and Elders on the Tiwi Islands.
SAVE THE DATE: Show your colours day!
Friday 27th of September (Last day of term).
We invite all staff and students to come to school in their favourite sport or club colours!
Being SunSmart!
As we enter the warmer months and the UV index hits 3, we all need to be SunSmart and wear sun protection. This means all students will be encouraged to wear their hat outside from Monday 16 September.
To help protect your skin and eyes from UV damage, wear a broad-brim, bucket or legionnaire hat that shades the face, neck, eyes and ears. The sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation is the main cause of skin cancer. Sun protection is recommended whenever the UV level reaches 3 or above.
